This thread been going on another forum for last couple of years and keeps getting bumped back up. Makes an interesting read.

Thats 24kg between you and no fish <!-- s:o --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_surprised.gif" alt=":o" title="Surprised" /><!-- s:o --> If it was only Jonny then i may of said there is a possiblity that his rigs may not have been right if it was when he first began carp fishing. (no offence) But not if theres 2 of you and all that bait its highly unlikely that its the rigs its more likely its the bait.

mate, to say i was well pi55ed off was an understatement, at the time, i was told it was THE bait, so went on it, in total it was 40kgs, as 20 went in the bin due to turning, which i put down to me making a mistake with the air drying, i was new to all this frozen bait(20+ years ago), but found out that it was quite common, and not alone... it did leave me with a bitter taste, and not really gone anywhere near mainline since.
i know that today mainline are right up there with the bait, and people have had some real success, but not for me...

Gutted pal. Didnt even know activ-8 had been out for so long.
The spicy chicken boilies didnt put me off Dynamite baitsbut never got near them boilies ever again. Come to thinkof it dont think i have ever seen anyone with a bag of them on the banks either, dont think i have even seen them in the tackle shops recently.

I used active-8 for over 2 years and I managed quite a few carp in that time. Hookpull you say you binned about 20 kgs due to turning, the thing is with the active 8 is that they are full of fermenting ingredients and after a few days will have a whiteish bloom, this is natural and although I was told that they are better after a few days I never really noticed any difference between the two states. I stopped using them because I was posted overseas and used the German and Dutch baits instead.

Gav I remember when the garlic chicken boilies first came out, they seemed to break the cycle of fishmeal or fruit only choices and they caught loads at first then anglers stopped using them and like you I havent seen any for ages.

I think that anglers will have a standard favourite but will try anything new that comes on the market and im no different. I change my bait of choice nearly every year, im on cc moore baits this year but I still have a bag or so of maggot and worm flavoured boilies and paste in my freezer which I will use from time to time.

Sometimes its not the bait either it can be another factor like weather, rig, where the fish are in the lake etc etc.
But if theres something your not catching on then your going to change the bait.
