Dig some worms up out the garden couldnt get cheaper than that and most species of fish love them.

If you have a commercial venue near to you then find out what days the matches are on and go and have a scout out in the bins after the match anglers have left.
I will always have a look in the bins around the lakes I fish, because it gives me an idea of the type of bait everyone else has been using and if im lucky I might find some leftover but perfectly useable bait.
I did exactly that at Barston last summer and ended up with about 8 kilos of fresh pellet, cubed meat and swim stim groundbait all thrown away by match anglers and all still sealed in plastic bags.
Ive even found bags of boilies half used.

These matchmen are richer than us carpers then if they can afford to do that.
Sweetcorn is fairly cheap, you dont need an expensive brand named one, bread or buying dry particles in bulk and cooking them yourself. Is cheaper in the long run.
