Which does everyone think is better and why?
I prefere barbed as the hook doesnt move round in the fishs mouth like a barbless so i feel it causes less damage. Plus it holds alot better especially when the line goes slack.
Whats everyone elses veiw on this?

I crush the barb down with forceps on mine so its easy unhooking and still good hook hold ;)

Always barbed as theres less chance of hook pull and doesnt damage the fishs mouth ;)

Had to bump this upto the top.
Barless hooks offer nothing but poor hook hold which results in damaged mouths (look at Draytons carp to show that) and easier hook pulls. Barbed hooks dont roll around the mouth of the carp and just hold in one place which helps stop big holes inside the mouth and ripped mouths. Too many lakes have barbless hooks only and the owners/baliffs need to realise that and the sooner the better.
For small fish fishing and using small hook then barbless can be better because of deep hooking as they are easier to get out, especially with small perch who have a nac of geting deep hooked.

Thats the reason 99% of carp in Drayton have battered mouths.
Explains it all in one pic Gav well done. ;)

i personally used barbed whenever i can get away with them. They give me that extra confidence in the hooking arangement. As said above they have a better hold so cause less damage to the fish and less chance of popping free!
