Just got this from another website. Shocking news......
Hi mate, just read your post and thought i needed to join to make you aware that bishops bowl is closed at the moment due to (apparently) Polish going up there, getting fish out (Carp, Bream, Tench etc) on treble barbs and ripping the hooks out and leaving the fish on the bank to die, some were even caught trying to smuggle some out in the back of there van, they have been caught and arrested but this is still very sad news to the loyal anglers that attend there. Why cant people just have a lil respect, they should be locked up for that kind of stuff
Anyone else got any info on this? <!-- s:?: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_question.gif" alt=":?:" title="Question" /><!-- s:?: -->

Was in local paper on 25/9/09 that all rumours of being closed or selling were rubbish but then got this off another site:oops:
i fished there again 2day on the match lake and had one 9lb and two 11lb carp.
also i bumped into a guy who was wondering around for around 4 hours, said he's from northamptonshire way and was looking to buy the fishery at a guide price of £750,000. one of the guys i recognised from anglers mail and angling times mags and he said he's a big match fisherman?
anyway he said this time next year all will be changing as when he takes over the lakes all carp above 12lb will be going into the mitre pool and this will be turned into a nice big carp day ticket water with all weeds and reeds removed and new pegs built.
all the other pools will be for match fishing and pleasure angling for small carp, tench, bream etc etc....... and all lakes will be stocked with more fish.
also the big lakes running around the outside of the bowls (where the water sports and tomb-stoning take place) will be turned into a big carp syndicate water with around 40 members at a cost of around £200 each per year (not bad at all if you ask me!). also the cafe maybe re-opened and the possibility of a small on site tackle shop! he said its going to take 2-3 to get alot of the work done but then i think bishops bowls will be a very good fishery as over the last few years its become very neglected and run down!
also the blue pool will be gone as its not for sale with the fishery and apparently planning permission has been granted for 300 new houses to be built where the blue pool and surrounding area is! so no more pedos and guys on motorbikes lol
after fishing the match lake 2day i doubt there is 30lb+ fish in there as the biggest i have seen swimming around is around 22-23lb. i think the old guy is a bit of a blagger as well! he told 2 lads that a 26lb a 24lb and a 21lb had been pulled out yesterday and that's a blag as i was there from 8 am till 7pm and there was only 3 other guys on the lake all day! 2 blanked 1 had some bream and i had 3-4 carp from 7.5lb - 14lb.
plus the old guy only turns up for 5 Min's to collect the money then he leaves and comes back just b4 closing to collect any remaining money, so i wouldn't believe a word he Say's!

Why put in paper but then this happen?

<r><B><s></s>Its the only fish in the lake man!<e></e></B></r>

Boring... only reason that pike lake was any fun was because no one really knew what was in it, except the mid 20 pike. Looks like it'll be rammed with the Argos bridage now!

Been sold now and seems link is right about the planning permission and rumours are true. Big capr being took out match pool and put in the old jet ski lake.
Some woman had a 40lber out the match pool recently!

Rumours i heard in the tackle shop this afternoon! <!-- s:o --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_surprised.gif" alt=":o" title="Surprised" /><!-- s:o -->

No chance of a 40 in there. mid-twenty maybe.
Only lake on that complex that would have a chance of doing a 40 would be the Jet Ski lake or maybe, although not likely, the Pike lake. The match lake is literally a large fish pond, ever been snagged on the bottom in there? It's the lino they use so it doesn't drain, hense the pipe at the top end aswell.

Thought i was always getting snagged on the huge beds of swan mussels in there <!-- s:?: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_question.gif" alt=":?:" title="Question" /><!-- s:?: --> Know what you mean with the pipe though.
New owner just joined another forum and posted this.....
I have read with interest, excitement, and sometimes anxiety, the comments placed on this site over the past months about the sale/purchase of Bishops Bowl Lakes.
I now have pleasure in announcing that I, and my wife, are the proud new owners.
So, who am I?
A kean fisherman, who has always had the dream of owning a fishery. I have been fishing, mainly in competitions, (at International level for the England Youth Team at one point). for over 30 years. I have also previously managed a fishery, and been a partner in a fish consultancy comapny.
I have high impact plans for Bishops Bowl Lakes, which obviously will take time to implement, during which time I will consider any constructive comments and ask that everyone visiting the site gives us the chance we require to get it right. Unfortunately these things don't happen over night!!
We are more than happy to answer any queries about the site, and can assure everyone that you will only get honest answers, until I have seen the "monster carp" myself, I won't attempt to guess what may or may not be waitng to be caught. If I don't know the answer, that's the answer you will get.
You will continue to see the existing tenant until the end of January, but I will also be on site most days, although the more work I can get done, the sooner it will be improved!
Having spoken to several fishermen during my visits to the site, one of our top priorities will be to provide hot and cold refreshments, whilst gradually taking one step at a time to proivide fishing for pleasure and match anglers, specimen hunters, and a syndicate type lake.
I look forward to meeting you all soon, and in the meantime, Merry Christmas, and thank you for your patience!
Shaun Smart
