Dog Lane Fishery (specimen lake)

Went up there couple of weeks back to try bag a biggy in a change to going to Nell Bridge. Specimen pool my ass <!-- s:evil: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_evil.gif" alt="" title="Evil or Very Mad" /><!-- s:evil: --> Had 4 out off the top on floating bread in the margins of 4,6,10.5,12 pound and medley had a 6 off the bottom. Rumours of catfish in there as well of 18lb 4oz and they are changing the match pool into the carp pool in the autumn. Anyone else think its very wrong to call this lake a &quot;specimen lake&quot;?

Fishery is closed form mon 5th oct -fri 9th oct as they are changing the carp pool and match pool around.

Went for a walk round a few times last few days on new carp lake. After looking round and seeing alot of small carp on the top was talking to a couple of blokes today and they had 3 carp between 2 and 3lb and 3 STURGEON <!-- s:shock: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_eek.gif" alt=":shock:" title="Shocked" /><!-- s:shock: --> between 7 and 9lb. Baliff told them they go to 42lb and if its cool next week he stocking 2 carp over 30lb.
Anyone know if any of this is true?

Been for a walk round about an hour ago. No-one fishing it but Carp all on the top at narrow end of the lake. Counted over 60 carp 15 which were ghosties. Nothing i could definatly say was 20 or above and most between 5-10lb. Couple of ghosties were high doubles though.
$ dead carp round the lake as well. Dont know if it means anythnig but it couldnt be spawning at this time of year, could it? <!-- s:?: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_question.gif" alt=":" title="Question" /><!-- s:?: -->

GavP's beast of a sturgeon out of there. <!-- s:o --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_surprised.gif" alt="" title="Surprised" /><!-- s:o --> Cracking fish that pal. Seen it rolling when i did nights on there and it was like a shark fin through the water.

It is a powerful fighting fish,
if you ever catch it you need to hold it in the water for about a hour before it is happy to swim off

Single bleep. when i hooked it, it came straight out of the water, made me jump:oops:

I think there are 2 in dog lane at that size

I also had about 30 carp that 24 hour session too

Yeah there 2 in there from what the baliff says. Were you carp fishing and caught it while fishing for them? Was it caught out in the middle of the lake and what on? Any of the carp any decent size as i think its full of more small carp than anythnig of a big size.

Was fishing for the carp. Only caught small ones, afew low doubles
Caught it on a cell boilie over a bed of mixed chill particle
2-3 rod length out in the margin
