This is a thread for lake reports of any lake you have done a rekky on, I will start it as today iv visited two local lakes to me the 1st was grounds farm wishaw sutton coldfield this lake has only had 1 fish lost due to weather. The water is very dirty/cloudy at the minute i think this is due to the rain as its dark clay coloured at present. its a good 3" higher than my last visit but as above this is to do with the weather conditons of late. The banks iv noticed are very narrow to narrow for a barrow these are very very muddy the swims are the same there are 2 jetty swims but due to a lack of maintenance have made these un fishable areas shame as they were good swims.there is rubbish littered all over the place from bait tins to disused rigs.(all rigs were binned by myself) Bait no fake baits, hemp, nuts or spod or ground baits. Ticket costs are £10 for 1 rod £15 for 2 you could never fish 2 rods on this water way to small. then the opening times is a joke gates open 8-15am till 4-30 pm sharp...... all in all im gutted really because it used to be a very nice little runs water and £5 for a rod but now really not happy with the water,

ill fill you in a little later regarding the other lake that to ent looking good

STOCKTON RESSE
63 peg lake 7 acre lake. Wooden pegs, although some need repairing and numbers need painting. Boards down on side of lake from pegs 1 to 25. Rest of the pegs have a gravel path to get to them with grass either side which saves getting muddy.
4 islands to fish to but dont fish too close as a couple of winters ago large amounts of reeds were cut down and poisoned to stop the amount of lost carp in them. Unfortunatly the roots are still there so you can lose alot of tackle if you not careful.
Gets busy at weekends in the summer and gets quite heavily booked with matches on a sunday so check the board in the car park before fishing in winter months you can often have the lake to yourself during the week and not too busy at weekends with little to no matches.
As well as carp which run to just over 20lb there are Tench, Crucians, Roach, Perch and Chub to about 4lb which can save a blank on very cold winter day. Average size of the carp is about 7-8lb.
Only problem with the place is the litter but baliff and his 2 sons were clearing rubbish by the bag load out the hedges today.
From what i understand the baliff, who owns the Blue Lias pub and used to own the lake in the 90's is leasing it off British Waterways and looking after the lake himself. Just needs a bit of TLC and the place will be good this summer for a few runs.

Drayton Resse, Daventry.

Over 100 pegs to choose from and all pegs except on the dam wall are off the wooden walkway that goes round most of the lake. Favourite swims are near the sailing club but you have to get there early in the summer months because these pegs go fast. Owned by British Waterways and a prolific carp water. 10's of thousands of them in there with an average size of about 12lb. Easy fishing in the warmer months when 20 carp in a day is achieveable. Anything goes bait and tactics wise but take plenty of bait with you as you can go through alot in a day session. Theres some pike to go at in the winter to. £6 for the day £9 for 2 rods in the summer and £5 for 2 rods in the winter. £25 for 24 hours. Be prepared for a long walk round the boards to your swim as sometimes it can be that busy that a 10 minute walk from the car to your peg can happen. Carp arent in the best condition in there but they do fight like steam trains. Good beginners lake as its quite hard to blank. ;)

Napton Brickyard.
Napton-On-The-Hill,
Warwickshire.

At only £3.50 for the day you cant grumble. Heavily stocked with Carp, Crucians, Tench, Bream, Roach and a few Grassies theres plenty to go at. While the carp go to just about 10lb there are many fish in the 1/2lb-3lb bracket. With no predators in either pool there at huge amounts of small fish but it can be fun once in a while fishing float, small hooks and corn and banging out 1-4oz Carp, Crucians and Tench. Just because the carp are small doent mean they are stupid. They will roll and knock your hook bait making sure its safe or off the hook before taking it. Wouldnt advise legering on the bottom as both lakes are teaming with Crayfish but they do make a nice meal. :P

Where exactly is it Gav? I need to try out my anti Crayfish rigs and this place sounds ideal.

The 2 small pools that are below Napton Windmill.
If you go on google earth and find the windmill you will see them there. Brickyard Road i think the road name is.
The grassie in my profile picture is the big one from the bigger pool.
Forgot to add that on the small lake it has had new wooden pegs built on it to save you from the mud when its wet, oh and watch out for the horses stampeding through your tackle and eating your bait.
