Hi Guys I've just joined this site. I live in southam now used to be leamington, I have spoke to you gav before on carp forum a few years ago, as I say I have moved to southam and have started baiting some areas spread out along the bascote and long itch, has anyone caught any carp out of these stretches, if so anybody know how big they go, or favoured baits they go for etc.... If anybody from this area is interested in fishing with me there more than welcome.

Cheers Danny

Welcome to the site mate. :P
Yeah theres Carp in there, fished Long Itch alot last Spring but found it hard. Had 1 but many lost fish through snags, many blanks and many many Bream. Best advice I can give is fish big baits and don't loose feed particles to try and deter the Bream. I was fishing 20mm boilies and still catching half pound Bream. Have a look through my blogs as theres a few sessions in amoungst them since I started writting them. Don't know how big they go and all Carp I heard got caught there last year were less than 10lb but saw photos of a few different 20lb Carp that have been caught out of there from about a decade ago. Also stretch from Blue Lias pub to Hatton is now owned by the Lure Anglers Association and is day ticket but I hardly ever saw a bailiff there.
Napton Marinas supposed to hold loads of Carp so don't ignore there if you don't mind a long walk. Have seen a 20lb plus Ghostie in that area a few years ago.

Checkbook and pen......again!!!!

Hello mate are you fishing for these during the day, I will be night fishing it loads, I have seen big fish just by that lock you can see off the fosseway, and i'm told by all the matchmen I work with that if u park on welsh rd and then walk along the canal back towards the fosse there is a wooded section and there were lots of 20lb plus fish there about 10 years ago. I will be buying a push bike I think and ride towards napton and have a look at the marina. I had a walk along the long itch stretch Saturday, are those boats permanently moored, if so i'd be looking to fish right by those.

Most of them between the Blue Lias and the Two Boats pubs have, some for over a decade, snags underneath them because of it. Lost alot of Carp through snags but fished days and nights but never got a run from a Carp in darkness hours which was wierd. Early morning before boats, dog walkers and joggers was the best time for me, Carp on the top as well at this time but they are very wary and seem to know every trick in the book.

Checkbook and pen......again!!!!
