Have we taught carp more than we know.

During the past week i have been fishing a syndicate lake with a limited amount of carp but are all over 20lb and have been around for a far old while. I have been watching these carp and their habits very closely also their reactions to the different ways we present bait to them. What i found was that most of the members use pva bags and when i presented a pva bag to them they spooked off of it, so i throw one in with no rig attached and it was still the same they would approach it slowly and when they got within touching distance they would speed up until past it. To test the theory i spread some boilies around the bag, the same 3 carp 2 30lb commons plus the big mirror came in and ate the boilies but still spooked off of the boilies in a pile from the pva bag. And when they did finally go down on the pile they did so very cautiously pick 1 boilie go off come back pick another and this took 2 days. :( To combat this i spread 5 kilos of boilies and 5 kilos of pellet into a area and fished over it for the last 24 hours, nobody else on the lake puts much bait in just the bags and a few boilies. When i started fishing the area it was a small hole in a weedbed, and after a couple of hours most of the stock was feeding on it.
Within 6 hours i had a 23lb 8oz mirror and this morning a 35lb 8oz mirror. The weedbed has almost been demolished through the carp ripping up the bottom for thier dinner. If i had not have been observent and just did the usual thing in carp fishing chuck a pva bag out, even over bait these fish dont like that then i would have had a checkbook and pen as most of the other members do on a regular basis. What do you think?? ;)

Seems that the carp have got so used to PVA bags there that they are now wary of there being a hook in it. Medley meantioned to ne a few weeks back about a man who works for Korda (cant remember his name) and he scatters boilies over a large area and fishs single baits. After being hammered by PVA bags the fish are alot less wary of single baits put in the baited area.
Good thinking salty ;) :)

Checkbook and pen......again!!!!

Is this the same lake you have been fishing for a month or so now?

The bloke i'am on about was ALI HAMIDI, he said rather than putting all your bait in one spot scatter it about in a big area, he was using boilies and scattering them in about half a acer of water and the carp were swiming round picking up single baits on the mouch.

I think it is mad that carp can do this put i've seen this thing happen before on dvds <!-- s:o --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_surprised.gif" alt=":o" title="Surprised" /><!-- s:o -->
If you can see to carp doing this then surly you can just drop the bait on them???
If yes then i would make up a pva bag or 2 and throw them in and fish singles next them ;)

Got to be worth a shot?
