Welcome to the site pal hope you enjoy.
Very picturesque setting that. Are there many carp in that stretch and any tips on how to catch one or 1 of the Barbel?

This river is like most you really cant say whats in there, there is carp present as i have seen them and caught a couple myself.
Its not busy at all, most days there is no one there when walk the dog.
The weekend you might see 3 to 4 anglers.
Its well worth a look i really cant belive no one fishes down there much, its not easy but then what river is...

Am off down the soar today for a few hours mainly after the pike but will chuck one out on boilie for anything else, will let you all know if i catch.
There is a match on the Soar at Kegworth tomorrow just for the club, i belive there is only 8 anglers but will post the outcome on here anyway.

Good news,
The wier at Kegworth is now part of the Long Eaton Vic Club and should have 12 to 15 pegs ready for the start of the season. This is a great barbel strech biggest last season was 13lb 3oz. Ticket price is £25 for all the waters of the club except for fletchers this is another £25 on top and has been limited to 50 members.

Most of the work is about done down the wier section still a couple of big trees which need pulling out to make another 2 pegs fishable, there are 9 pegs on the wier now and a nice wide path through all the nettles to them. I have cut a few steps out to get to some of the pegs and down to the water to land fish. As for the rest of the river its been left wild for know as not many fish down here and i like to be hidden in the undergrowth.
