Some of the plastic baits are quite porus and will take flavours whilst some others just dont want to know. Ive had some plastic in a small pot of strawberry for well over a year and it smells ok at first but on reeling in for a recast it doesnt seem to smell of anything at all, and ive always got a big bit of plastic maize in a small pot of marmite that smells great everytime I reel in.

They are all the same once out of the packet. However I have found that the floating/pop up corn and baits will take the flavours better. I think its because they are more porus than the bottom baits because they have to be to float.

Thanks mate. Gonna have to experiment a bit. Got cell glug so going to put a few pop-up grains of corn in there for a few months. Should work well as 99% of the time using cell boilies when fishing and got some of them glugging for last month or so now. Will check them in a few weeks by leaving 1 in water for a few hours then see if it still smells. Thanks again.

Tried using plastic dog biscuits today and alot of carp shyed from my bait but gulpped down the others. Caught alot more using the real thing, is it possible the carp could tell it was plastic and knew there was a hook in it?
