Your first carp?!?!?!?

Do you remember it and like to share it with the forum....

2lb common on a size 18 hook, sweetcorn and a pole Was back in the summer of 1996.

i can`t remember my first carp but i remember my first double it was at cuttle mill on peg 11 (pontoon) it weighed 15lb 4oz and that was in 1986 and i still remember it as though it was only yesterday ,it was just after a heavy downpour and i was looking at my rods and watched as the monkey climber hit the rod and line poured off the open bail arm ( you new comers to carp fishing will probably think what a pratt fishing an open bail arm but thats how we fished back then no baitrunners )and i just stared at it and couldn`t quite figure out what was happening as my heron bite alarm wasn`t making a sound after what seemed an eternity but was only probably about 5 seconds i picked the rod up wound down about 5 turns of the handle and struck and from that point onwards i was a jibbering wreck my legs were shaking ,my hands were sweating and when i finally got it in and saw the size of it i went totally to pieces and many thanks to my mate ian for his calmness and the superb photo`s i still have of that fish ,the memory of that fish will go to the grave with me things haven`t changed much because when that buzzer sounds i still become a jibbering wreck

My first carp decent enough to really talk about was caught in Somerset (2003) on a fairly warm day. Stuck my hook in the margin on the edge of some reeds to the right of me with some newly purchased fake sweetcorn (pop up type) and began to set up a float rod. Busy with my attention on attaching float etc on the second rod i didn't even reallies my bait runner was busy buzzing away next to me, when i struck what a feeling!!! This 18.5 lb mirror was tugging away at my line trying his best to take me into the reeds and any other obstacle he could find to snag me on. Some time latter this energetic little f**ker finally admitted defeat and got in the bloody net. I would never have done it without my friend Bainer talking me through it and keeping me calm, i was all over the place with excitement and panic what a feeling. Good times!

First carp was a tiny little common when fishing maggots for small fish at a small farm pond. Ended the day with about 20 of them in my keepnet along with about 100 roach, bream and the odd perch. first carp was a little one around 1-2lb few years back, sweetcorn while catchin crucians, roach and the odd bream. changed to carpin soon after rather than the small fry and aint looked back

First carp hooked was about 1984, great black beast of a thing that broke everything! a week later hooked it again, and again lost the lot...turned out the fish was near 30lbs, and was moved to a private water, when fishing rights changed hands in about 1986.
that was it really till about 87, then spent a day catching 3-8lbs fish on a local day ticket.
rigs were helicopter style,heavy leads , optonic alarms, ally bank sticks, bent to buggery, and richworth tutti fruitti boilies!

The first ever carp i caught was a 15.4lb Mirror carp, and that was 13/02/11, i tell you somethingi had a smile from ear to ear and i ow it all to Trev, for taking me and show me how to fish XDXD Cheers trev
