Need advice Weed.
I've just joined a new club and one of there waters has several fish over 30lb, it's about 2-3 acres and has weed carpeting the bottom all over, its about a foot high, the lake is only about 6foot at the deepest parts. What advice could anyone give me on tactics and rigs to use, I fished it Saturday and blanked, I've bought some pva nuggets now to try so that I know (hope) my bait does not get buried after casting.

Prebait a spot mate. If theres tench and bream in there then prebaiting with particles should clear up a spot.
Try climbing trees and polarised glasses to see if you can see the pathways through the weed created by the carp. Placing a bait here is a good idea as these pathways are cleared because the carp are cruising through them all the time.
Zig rigs set at just over a foot with a PVA nugget over the top of the weed will keep you hook point out of it.
Hope this helps you pal.
Checkbook and pen......again!!!!

Another cracking idea. You clear a spot to fish on plus stir up the bottom clouding the water and realeasing the natural foods.

bencarp16 wrote: Fish with drop off leads to mate. That way when you get a take the lead comes off and the carp comes up rather than burys through the weed making it easier to land. <!-- s:idea: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_idea.gif" alt="

thats a good idea once the fish has been hooked,
give the rake method a go (just two rake heads attached back to back and then attached to a rope) bung it out as far as poss and then drag it back in. (keep weed in a pile next to the water, so that the beasties can get back in the drink) also try the other methods at the same time and for gods sake use a lead that drops off or Bencarp will beat me up. <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="

yeah it has Canadian pond weed in it and it also some that looks like but i'm unsure of the name of it.
dont know either but know what it is. long stands of weed from the bottom of the lake up towards the surface. as bad as canadian if not worse.
advice is agreed with others, solid pva bags and zig rigs set at exactly the right depth to sit just on top of the weed.
