dont think mine is big enough and thick padded enough for the carps safety if they are slightly bigger. Any ideas for a decent one dont mind spendin the money for one thats gonna last me years.

anything upto around 20lb but 1 water i fish has them to just over 25

The Cotswold Aquarius unhooking mat is a good un well worth a look and rolls up quite tidy too

trakker polyball is a good mat as well, really helps stop the fish flap about.

got 1 2nd hand off a mate today who just got himself a new one. its a Fox Elite for a tenner. is this any good? should i look at sellin it and gettin something else? its big and very padded.

The thing to do is get the biggest and best you can afford, it doesnt matter what name is on it the carp wont mind. The one you have now sounds so much better than the one you had before. If in a few months you think that the one you have now isnt good enough then save up and get a better one. You can put a small fish on a large mat but you cant put a large fish on a small mat. Its all about fish care and safety really, they are our responsibility because it is us that take them out of their environment for our enjoyment.
