Like gav says the chod is a good bet. There is always other options like using a soft braid and putting the rig and lead in a solid bag with a few freebies. This should give you a good presention on the soft weed.

Your rig sits in the middle of all the bait and when he pva bag dissolves your hookbait is presented on the top of it with the hook well out the weed. Can even fish this in the middle of canadian pondweed to. <!-- s:ugeek: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_ugeek.gif" alt=":ugeek:" title="Uber Geek" /><!-- s:ugeek: -->

Like the Chod but have no confidence fishing it over a spod mix. The plan was to fish a pop-up on a KD rig over the top of a particle spod mix. The carp getting their heads down should rip up what blanket weed there is there after a while and clear the bottom of the lake. Or would fishing a solid bag be better?

I use braid over blanket weed. I fish a 12&quot; length of soft supple braid and a snowman rig that is critically balanced. I thread a small 3&quot; stick of CC Moore weedbeater mix on the hook length which pops up the snowman for a few minutes until the water reacts with the mix and it breaks down slowly letting your snowman settle on top of a load of tasty bait bits that are actively working above the blanket weed.

The longer the rig length then the further above the weed it starts and the wider the spread of particles. There is nowt wrong with 5 - 7 &quot; hook lengths, but it would depend on the depth of the blanket weed really.
