Been fishing sticks for nearly 2 years now. Only place i have difficulty with them is some parts of the canal. Pods are the be all and end all. Ended up selling mine to have a bit of extra cash to spend on terminal tackle. <!-- s:idea: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_idea.gif" alt="" title="Idea" /><!-- s:idea: -->

a good pod can be used anywhere, I have an old quatro pod which suits me down to the ground. Doesn't look as good as my single bankstick set up, but just is easier and more functional option. All be it when I'm predator fishing i much prefer to use banksticks as i like all my rods to be facing directly at the baits so i can get the very best bite detection to avoid deep hooking and missing delicate bites! So all in all i would say the best answer is to aim to get both eventually as if you fish different venues you will inevitably encounter different bank / peg situations. And also you might just prefer one to the other either functionally or aesthetically.
Gotta love a long winded response? lol

Tbh mate i think its personal preference, and i think they both have there positives and negatives. I personal have a nice tight bank stick set up, which suits me down to the ground.
