2013 Catch Results

ome very good looking Carp there Gav, well done.

Done the day on Mitre Pool at Bishops Bowls today. 11 1/2 hours session with about 3 hours of fishing in. Was more like a day feeding Carp. Travelling light, moving round the lake fishing dog biscuits on the top, i had 8 Carp between 11lb and 15lb 1oz. I lost 5 through hook pulls as the Carp ploughed through weed. Couldnt get any of the bigger Carp but an awesome day. Fished 3 different swims, 10, 15 & 4. Even had a walk round Greenhills and saw some monsters, just couldnt get a bait near them in each spot they were because of the strong wind. Not fishing for a while between fish kept the bites coming all day in between getting raided by the ducks.

Cut a 12 hour day session down to 7 from the heat causing the Carp to sun bathe rather than feed. Fishing mixers i manage to lose 2 and land 2 form Mitre Pool Bishops Bowls. I had a go on Greenhills getting a few feeding on mixers only to blow my chance when i missed a bite and spook the Carp off.
1st Carp was this 18lb 4oz Mirror, what a stunner!!!

2nd Carp was this 14lb 8oz Common.

Well done in difficult conditions, weather is really putting them off during the day at the moment. That mirror is a beauty.

Had a go at dawn on surface fishing the canal yesterday morning and after getting a Carp feeding on them i blew my chance by striking a fraction of a second too late. Determind to have 1 out i got there at 5am this morning to try sneaking 1 before work at 10. I put mixers in 6 different areas and kept walking the bank checking them. Nothing came up but i noticed swirls on the water under some bankside plants leaning over the water on the near margin. I couldnt see the Carp but knew it must be a larger fish of some sort moving the water like that. I quitely lowered my fake mixer into the water and leant the rod on the plants using them as a rod rest and took a chance. 10 minutes of swirling water a pair of lips came to the surface and after a 5 or 6 minute fight up and down the canal i landed this Common of 9lb 14oz.

After the eqivilent of about 5 days on the banks chasing them this year to say i was over the moon is a understatement. Well chuffed
To give you an idea of the bankside vegetation heres a view of the tow path. I will never ignore the margins for canal Carping after this.

1st trip out in this heatwave yesterday, 1 choice and that was fishing on the top with bread. Had 14 in the end all around mid doubles in 10 hours with a bit if sunburn to. <!-- s8-) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cool.gif" alt="" title="Cool" /><!-- s8-) -->
